We filmed their music video earlier today…after a few hours of processing emotions, crying, phone calls, and updating sites… we decided to use our energies to create something… from the 33rd floor rooftop of a building… downtown, in a city sitting at 33 degrees on the map (Dallas)… on 03/09/09. Just saying. It wasn’t by design. There was this wind… it blew hard at the end.

Space
is producing their debut record… in tradition with what was the incubation of the Velvet Underground… SPACE, our modern day factory… has found a couple of strands of its own “home grown” sounds to grow… and share with the Universe.

Scrapiron is gone… but not forgotten

March 9, 2009 · 2 Comments

Keith sent me the message this morning that Scrapiron passed yesterday. This is a sorry deal too. Ford was a great man… and a good friend…. a real artist and amazing soul. He has no family other than his brother… and there is no money for funeral set aside… it’s really shitty this whole deal has me angry…sad… fearful… and pissed… and grateful… all of it.
We want to have a memorial of some sort… I just need to get sorted.
Stay tuned…
We are making arrangements for a memorial to be had in SPACE (TBA) in hopes to raise the resources needed for a proper burial.

Peace to you my friend.

Wire Bending Wednesdays

January 13, 2009 · 1 Comment

Art parties in SPACE each Wednesday 7p-Midnight
(starting tomorrow)

This is where you get to help the current artist showing in the gallery make their art. Until March its the wire bending magical warrior of light GEORGE FOWLER who is updating his “Beautiful Delusion” installation with new pieces every two weeks. Nearly half of his work has been sold thus far… and our next artist DANIEL PEREZ (THE-MULTI-MEDIA-DIMENSION-ROCKYOURVORTEX-another sister’s brother’s ARTIST) His first solo show will be in the gallery next on March 7th.

Assemble the visions and breathe life into some ambitious productions of local artists while you watch a movie and learn how it’s done… or, what inspired them. It’s a cool place to be yourself, grab a tool, paint brush, slice of pizza and beer or soda… and do something creative. Oh, and… you might make some art and or some new friends along the way while your at it. In the end you can know… it’s not a secret…you were a part of the “bigger picture”.

Whatever it takes… I’m learnin’ how to jump like this!

January 13, 2009 · 1 Comment

I began practicing with small leaps today… just to get the feel of it. I know it’s gonna take some more schooling. I’m also starting piano lessons. So, I can sing about how it feels to fly. That’s going to require some voice lessons too. I’m making a twenty year plan so I figure there is still time to get it all done.

Have an amazing first day of school Drew! The best is yet to come. You have an killer talent, hard working, humble… and a great light shines when you’re around. Their gonna love you. I know we do. Thanks for taking the jump… and for being an inspiration to us all.

“Something From Nothing” a part of the Samples Of Soceity Series

I met him at a bus stop.. and he said that he had a dream about two guys making a film about him.. and Dylan was just up the street in Venice Beach with me during this trip… so, I called Dylan, we changed our plans, and… allowed this divine appointment to happen.

We’re aiming to tell the rest of Tachowa’s story in April 2009.

My Friend and fellow Photographer Carissa broke my heart… with this news about PICASA

January 8, 2009 · 1 Comment

From Photography Review Online:
http://www.photographyreview.com/cat/digital-photography-software/browsers-viewers-and-printing/Google/PRD_348284_3080crx.aspx

It’s dishonest to call this software free when the license states that Google has a right to use anything you create, forever, in whatever way they want and whoever they want to give it to.

If you take an amazing photo and save it with Picasa, Google can do whatever they want with it. So it’s free to download, and then you give them the right to exploit you. Maybe that would be a fair trade…except for the fact that you cannot take back that right, even long after the software/service is obsolete and gone. Any semi-serious photographer should be wary about using Picasa!

From the license, read starting the 2nd sentence:

11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.

11.2 You agree that this licence includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.
Strengths:

Good software.
Weaknesses:

You retain copyright but give Google permission to use your content to make more money. Forever.
